While statistical significance can’t be discounted, in practice, especially EBP nursing, clinical significance probably would have more influence in determining practice changes. If an intervention can demonstrate good results that are not only measurable and noticeable, nurses would likely try to incorporate it into practice and workflow adjustments as it would likely be easier to teach and be adaptable to other caregivers and their patients. Statistical significance in an EBP project would be helpful because the researcher and subsequently the readers, followers of the study, would be confident enough to replicate at least part of the project as it would be viewed as reliable and anticipated results should be predictable.
