“The French Revolution was a complete social, political, and economic revolution.” Provide an analysis of this event that focuses on the following:
(1) The causes of the French Revolution
(2) A complete discussion of the four phases of the revolution- -discuss the most significant figures, activities, and documents/legislation from each phase (See the notes and power-points for help here). Be sure to note specifically revolutionary activity (i.e., the storming of the Bastille), counterrevolutionary activity (nobles, peasants, women, etc.), and the spiraling radicalism (Reign of Terror, Jean-Paul Marat, the Republic of Virtue, etc.).
(3) Creating the “perfect” society- -Be sure to note how the leaders of the revolution (particularly Robespierre) ended up perverting enlightened ideas as they tried to create the perfect rational society.
