I need an explanation for this Nursing question to help me study.
The research gaps exist due to the very nature of how EBPs are developed and validated. Identifying research gaps may seem difficult or even impossible, given the potential of current research and may be due to lack of sufficient information to support the claim and literature gap, which are the missing or incomplete piece of data in the research literature that is not explored or ventured (PhDAssistance.com, 2021).
For my EBP project of post-op ileus prevention and faster GI recovery, the research gaps I encountered would be the timing of the gum-chewing intervention that is to be given and the frequency, but I should say it needs more robust evidence because my topic is specific and highly studied. Another gap is the lack of studies regarding cost-benefit analysis when an EBP is integrated into the practice. These gaps are very precious to other researchers because they could be their rationale in conducting a study designed to address the gap.
